As a teacher and coach, one of the most frustrating misconceptions I encounter is the belief that success is like winning the lottery—a random stroke of luck that simply falls into your lap. But it’s clear from people’s actions, or lack thereof, that many are passively waiting for success to come knocking.

Everyone wants things—they want to be rich, they want a fulfilling career, they want a strong marriage and to raise wonderful children, and they want to be respected in their community. Yet, what are they doing to achieve this success?
